Welcome!
My blog is way cooler, so your first stop is here! Visit my wedding website by clicking the link on the right!

My name is Nick Haskins, and I am a destination wedding and lifestyle photographer based out of Tampa, Florida. This blog was created to offer a feeling of transparency into my business; an inside look, as to who I am and what we're all about!

You can find your way around by using the links above. To the right are quick links to our wedding website, old blog, and LUMU! shootshops. For brides, at the very bottom are vendors that we have worked with and trust, so check 'em out!

If your wondering who designed this stylish blog, it was the amazing Ross and his crew over at Flosites.

SHOCK BEACH - 1000 FRAMES
15.05.2008

It can be very hard to explain my style to my clients.  With no posing and minimal direction, the question everyone asks is, "what do we do?"  This is hard part.  You see, in order to coax our your personalities from behind the cloak of security, you have to just be yourselves...have fun, and forget that we're even around.

At the same token, you as a photographer have to be yourself.  Me?  I'm a pretty funny, and animated kind of guy.  When my clients see their photographer acting goofy, they feel more comfortable, and will let down that cloak of security.  The minute that cloak drops, my camera fires off like a frikking Tommy gun...capturing every last moment I possibly can.

I decided to put together a second "Frames" video with the photos from Amber and Bobby's Engagement session (catch the first one here.)  I fired off approximately 1,157 photos in 2 hours. I "quick fix 'emd" using my created "Keyframes" (for a later post) using Lightroom in 1 hour, and exported them resized to 1000px on the long edge.  None were deleted...the good...the bad...the ugly...the under-exposed, the over-exposed, and the completely out of focus shots...they are all here.  I think it's a fabulous way to show a sort of...behind-the-scenes look.  The location?  A secret...for now anyways.

Enjoy.

AMBER AND BOBBY'S ENGAGEMENT
12.05.2008

What a frikking electrifying session we had last night!  I found the coolest frikking location ever.  I'd tell you where it was, but unfortunately...it's a secret!  The original plans were to hit the beach, but I really wanted to follow a vision I had a few weeks ago.  I had to had to had to do it!  I asked if we could meet an hour earlier at this spot that I had passed a while back while location scouting.  I can only imagine what they were thinking..."meet him at the power lines?"  My clients have a lot of trust in me, especially seeing as how most of them are out of state and we really do not meet until about a week before, or even the day of the wedding in some cases.

Anyhow, Amber and Bobby are the cutest frikking couple ever!  She has the most amazing blue eyes, and Bobby...that dude is frikking tall!  It's so funny to see how stiff folks are at first, but then eventually they loosen up, allowing me to capture their true personalities.  I can't wait to shoot their wedding next Sunday back at the mansion!

Here are my favs from last night.

Our sites and emails are now back up and running.  If you have sent us email in the past 2 days, then I have not gotten it.  Please re-send it!  This is the last time the blog will move I promise!

SPILLING THE BEANS
05.05.2008

So here's the big news.

I received an email yesterday from Joann Delgin, the "Chief Romance Officer" for Sandals and Beaches Resorts.  Somehow or another she found Tanya and Victors Trash the Dress Session, and wants to purchase some of those shots for their website.

Frikking sweet.

She also wanted to know if it were possible for me to train all of the Sandals photographers.  Think of it as...assesing the current situation, advising a new plan of action, and training them with new protocols and techniques to elevate the quality of work produced by Sandals Resorts, on-staff photographers.

Frikking double sweet.

Well...tomorrow I fly out for a one-day-trip to Miami. At 3 PM I have a meeting with Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts.  The tentative plan?  To visit all 20 resorts located in Jamaica, Bahamas, St Lucia, Antigua and Turks/Caicos and train the 3-4 photographers at each resort on how to shoot.

Frikking triple sweet.

Nothing is set in stone as of yet, and I may still be going nowhere at all.  Tomorrows meeting will determine the future.

Hang tight.  Will post later with more details.
